Tanzania Chachalate with Kyoto Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea)
Tasting Notes: Raspberry, Cherry, Plum, Roasted Green Tea
Hojicha is a roasted green tea - the quieter sibling to matcha. It has a bold roasted aroma with a light finish on the palate and a much lower caffeine content than its green counterpart.
We paired hojicha with Tanzanian Kokoa Kamili cocoa beans to balance the deep roasted flavours with the brightness of fruits.
This part of our journey brings him to this special region in Japan. The warm climate and fertile soil makes it perfect for growing the best tea in the world.
You'll be cha-cha'ing in no time.

About the Beans
In the village of Mbingu (Kiswahili for Heaven), Tanzania, cocoa beans are gathered from over 4,500 neighbouring farmers.
Kokoa Kamili, a central fermentary, takes these beans and beautifully ferments them. They pay the farmers the highest prices in the region and work to better the lives of the surrounding communities while developing the tastiest cocoa beans around.
We make sure to delicately roast the cocoa beans to preserve and accentuate the distinctive tang of these seeds.
At Chachalate, we celebrate the uniqueness of nature and highlight the rainbow of flavours! We make naturally fruity tasting dark chocolate, unlike any other chocolate you've ever had.
This Japanese tea-infused dark chocolate (koka kamili) is one-of-a-kind. It is well-balanced to the extent that you can’t miss the taste of hojicha in it and yet it doesn’t over power the chocolate. In addition, it only contains very few ingredients, which makes this chocolate bar nothing like the main-stream chocolate brands out there.
Recommended by a friend, and holy smokes we are in LOVE with this chocolate. Probably one of our favourite chocolates now. Definitely give it a try.
I loved this Tanzanian chachalate infused with Kyoto Hojicha and fruitiness. I ate it all in one sitting! Highly recommend, 10/10 will order again! :)
