About the Beans

Tanzania, Kokoa Kamili

In the village of Mbingu (Kiswahili for Heaven), Tanzania, cocoa beans are gathered from over 4,500 neighbouring farmers.

Kokoa Kamili, a central fermentary, takes these beans and beautifully ferments them. They pay the farmers the highest prices in the region and work to better the lives of the surrounding communities while developing the tastiest cocoa beans around.

We make sure to delicately roast the cocoa beans to preserve and accentuate the distinctive tang of these seeds.

Madagascar, Bejofo

The Bejofo Estate in Madagascar has been farming cacao for 100 years.
They grow, harvest, and ferment their own beans, then dry them quickly under the hot Madagascar sun in the Sambirano Valley. The soil and climate here are ideal for growing the highest quality cacao.

Great Sampler Pack!

Very much enjoyed every chocolate bar in the bundle I created. Looking to reorder soon and try a few we missed the first. Local shipping was super duper fast! Honestly faster than Amazon most days 😂. I loved the hand written note and the fun packaging. 10/10 would recommend Chachalate!

Very Good Chocolate

The processing on this chocolate does a great job of capturing the depth and complexity of the source beans. Great flavour, and you can really taste the origins. There is a slight chalkiness in most of the bars, but still an enjoyable texture. If it were up to me I maybe would have went with 70% to reduce the chalkiness but that's more a personal preference.
Given that it's priced significantly lower than many others in the single origin chocolate space, I would say this is excellent value for money, and probably Toronto's best option for chocolate within its price point.
